Ferrari is considering a radical shake-up to its senior management structure, according to reports from Italian media.
At the present time, the team has a typical structure with Fred Vasseur as team principal, with his immediate superiors being Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna and then chairman John Elkann.
The traditional team principal role means Vasseur is responsible for both Ferrari's technical programme as well as managing its political stances on matters of the day.
However, Corriere dello Sport has reported that Elkann is considering making a change to this structure.
The Italian newspaper claims that Elkann is looking to appoint a figure above Vasseur but below himself and Vigna to act as a bridge between senior management and the F1 programme.
This would replicate the structure at McLaren, where Zak Brown is CEO and deals with all political and financial matters, allowing team principal Andrea Stella to fully focus on the technical programme and the race team.
Vasseur's three-year contract he signed when joining Ferrari in 2023, expires at the end of the current season, with reports emerging in the Italian media that he could be axed following a poor season, by pre-season expectations after the Scuderia fell 14 points short of McLaren in the '24 constructors'.
However, he has rubbished those claims, with drivers Charles Leclerc, and especially Lewis Hamilton voicing strong support for the Frenchman.
