Dan Ticktum offers hilarious George Russell response after bizarre Max Verstappen comparison

Dan Ticktum has offered a hilarious response to George Russell, who without mentioning the Formula E driver specifically, compared him to Max Verstappen. 

Following Russell's incident on lap 64 at Turn 5 with Verstappen during the Spanish Grand Prix, the Mercedes driver was asked if any other driver would make a similar move to the Dutchman.

Speaking to select media including RacingNews365 in Barcelona, Russell was asked: 'Is there any other driver in the world who would do that, in your view?', to which his response began with: "Not in Formula 1.

"Maybe in Formula E, yeah, maybe one British driver in Formula E, but Max is one of the best in the world, and yeah, it would be intriguing to know what he was thinking."

It was quickly identified by fans on social media, and Ticktum himself, that Russell was hinting at the Cupra Kiro Formula E driver. 

Ticktum has often received bad publicity following an incident when he was a teenager, which saw the driver receive a two-year ban.

However, in recent years in Formula E, the former Red Bull junior driver has begun to make a name for himself, securing a first FE podium a fortnight ago and recovering from 21st to fourth last Saturday in Shanghai.

Speaking on an Instagram story Sunday night, Ticktum said: "Good evening, sports fans. I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. 

"I have just had a very nice evening with the team and some of the guys from Porsche here in Shanghai, just on the way back to the hotel. 

"It has come to my attention via the Twittersphere that a certain driver in Formula 1, not to name names, but his name is George Russell, has made some rather choice comments about a certain Formula E driver. 

"He hasn't named my name, but it's quite obviously pointed at me. We'd like to address those comments that he made, I believe, on the team radio (they were made in the media pen post-race). 

"Number one, thank you for the free publicity. We'll take that any day of the week. And two, while what Max did today was a little bit skeptical, to be likened to him at any point in my career, it's a positive if you ask me. Goodbye."
