Fernando Alonso will participate in FP2 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, it has been announced by Aston Martin.
The two-time F1 drivers' champion missed the first hour of practice at the Hungaroring with Felipe Drugovich deputising in his AMR25, alongside Lance Stroll. The Brazilian finished the session in P16.
Alonso missed FP1 because of a back injury he has been dealing with in the week following the Belgian Grand Prix, but has been deemed fit enough to participate in the second session of this weekend.
The Silverstone squad has explained that the 44-year-old chose to sit out FP1 in Hungary to limit his time in the car.
Former team principal Mike Krack spoke earlier today, explaining that the plan was alway for Alonso to take part in FP2.
The 32-time grand prix winner underwent further treatment this morning and has been medically cleared by the FIA.
