AlphaTauri turn to wine for heat

The AlphaTauri team will use energy generated from the production of wine to create heat for their factory in Italy.

AlphaTauri have turned to wine in order to warm their troops, as they've revealed their new heating system will be powered by the energy generated by a local wine company. As part of their ongoing sustainability programme to reduce and offset their CO2 emissions, AlphaTauri are rolling out two main initiatives. Green electrical energy, generated from 100% renewable sources, will power their factory at Faenza. To heat the factory, AlphaTauri have formed a partnership with local Italian company Caviro Group. This large-scale Italian wine producer will heat the factory through a dedicated pipeline, with energy from their wine production process, as well as local garden waste, being used to pipe in the warm air. AlphaTauri are implementing this as part of F1's goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030, with the team confirming their starting point, recorded in 2019, was 15,000 tonnes of CO2. The majority of these figures, some 70%, came from their factory activity, which is why they are focusing on more efficient energy solutions to be implemented this year.
