'You are joking!': Cassidy furious after late practice crash

Nick Cassidy is a doubt for qualifying after crashing in the closing minutes of free practice 2 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Nick Cassidy has endured a disastrous start to the Misano E-Prix after crashing in the closing minutes of free practice two, with Jaguar facing a race against time to have his car repaired for qualifying. The New Zealander was approaching the final corner on a hot lap when he came across several slow moving cars, who were preparing for a hot lap. Of the three cars Cassidy quickly approached, the first – a Porsche – moved off the racing line, unlike an Abt Cupra and a McLaren. In avoiding action, Cassidy was forced to take to the grass, where he lost control of his car and collided with two tyre barriers, the latter at the end of a gravel trap at the final corner. His front-wing was destroyed in the collision as was the front-right of his car, leaving Jaguar with a huge task ahead of qualifying at 09:20 GMT. Immedietly after the crash, Cassidy jumped straight on the radio to vent his anger and demanded a serious penalty for the McLaren driver. "You are joking me mate," Cassidy fumed over the radio. "I've just been put in the fence by a McLaren. That deserves such a big penalty you have no idea. That is so dangerous."
