Red Bull has opted to introduce a further development to the RB21 car at the British Grand Prix weekend as it looks to boost its dynamic and aerodynamic characteristics.

However, the upgrade, which is a new modification to the floor, will only be fitted to Max Verstappen's car for testing during the opening practice session of the weekend on Friday afternoon.

The latest upgrade from the Milton Keynes-based squad follows on from the new floor that was introduced last time out in Austria.

Silverstone's update focuses on changes to the central area of the Venturi channels and the front flow diverters and barge boards.

These are small interventions that can be categorised among what are commonly referred to as 'micro aerodynamics' - the effect, in terms of an increase in the load generated, is also quite small.

The scale of change is roughly an increase of less than ten points of load. But it is useful to improve the balance of the car and to have a lower sensitivity on front limited tracks, as is the case at Silverstone.

Red Bull's hope is that the car will be extremely precise and responsive in long, fast changes of direction, particularly through the Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel corners.

The modification was already long in the works prior to the arrival of the upgraded floor brought to Spielberg last week.

Red Bull is focusing hard on bringing all the resources it can to improve the RB21 without distracting from the 2026 car under a new set of technical regulations.

It seems the team will continue to push ahead with the development of its current car until the summer break, after which it will divert all its resources to next year's car.
