VIDEO: Carlos Sainz accuses rival of cheating

Rallying legend Carlos Sainz has lashed out at rival Nasser Al-Attiyah after footage emerged of Al-Attiyah taking a shortcut during the Andalucian Rally.

Carlos Sainz has expressed his disappointment in rival Nasser Al-Attiyah after Sunday's final stage at the Andalucian Rally. Al-Attiyah, who won the stage by 43 seconds, was recorded slowing down his Toyota Hilux in order to cut across a grassy patch and rejoin the stage having missed an entire section of the course. Sainz took to Twitter to share a statement expressing his frustations with Al-Attiyah, and also shared the video recorded by a spectator. Al-Attiyah was given a two minute penalty by the FIA for the shortcut.

In response, Al-Attiyah shared a tweet laughing at Sainz, saying: "Hahahaha don't be disappointed." He then followed up by sharing a video showing Sainz taking a similar shortcut at the Baja Rally in 2017.
