Sebastian Vettel will return to F1 at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix next month, where the four-time world champion will be driving Ayrton Senna's iconic McLaren MP4/8.

The demo will be in tribute of the three-time world champion, who died 30 years ago on this very day at Imola, in a crash which changed F1 forever.

Senna drove the McLaren MP4/8 in 1993, before he completed his switch to Williams. Vettel will be in attendance throughout the Emilia-Romagna GP – held on May 17-19 – to pay his respects.

“Ayrton Senna was not only a driver who I valued highly for being one of the best racing has ever seen, but also a man of great compassion,” said Vettel, as per F1.com.

“It’s been 30 years since his accident and I would like to pay tribute to Ayrton. I will be in Imola for the Grand Prix to drive his car, the McLaren MP4/8. I hope to see you on Sunday, May 19.”

Vettel released a short video on his Instagram account confirming that he will be driving Senna's car in Imola.

The former Red Bull driver retired from F1 at the end of 2022, but recently completed a test for Porsche's Hypercar programme.
