Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix 2024

The F1 Chinese Grand Prix circuit: A detailed breakdown

Formula 1 returns to China for the first time since 2019. Let's delve into the intricacies of the Shanghai International Circuit.

The return of the Shanghai International Circuit

In April 2003, plans were set in motion to transform a marshland in the Jiading district of Shanghai into a Formula 1 venue.

After eighteen months and an investment of approximately $450 million, the cutting-edge Shanghai International Circuit emerged.

The Chinese Grand Prix was one of two new races introduced for the 2004 F1 season (the other being the Bahrain Grand Prix).

While these additions aimed to disrupt Ferrari's dominance, it proved futile. Michael Schumacher clinched victory in Bahrain, and Rubens Barrichello emerged triumphant in China.
