The heart of Team Redline's class victory in iRacing's virtual Daytona 24 Hours has been summed up by boss Atze Kerkhof as "Max Verstappen."

The triple Formula 1 World Champion took over driving duties of the #69 (visually shown as #4 on live broadcast) Mercedes during the night - and even had to overcome a disconnection on the way to victory alongside Ole Steinbraten and Gianni Vecchio.

"Max Verstappen drove no less than four stints during the night, during which he put in some serious effort," Kerkhof told RacingNews365.

"But it was just a very good race, flawless even."

While Verstappen celebrates victory in the GTD class, the same could not be said for his Redline team-mates in the GTP class - through no fault of their own.

"Due to an iRacing error, the pit-stops of the BMW hypercars (which Redline was using), takes five seconds longer than other cars," Kerkhof added.

"After implementing Balance of Performance, regarding the fuel capacity, they forgot to equalise the pit-stop times.

"You are then talking about 31 pit-stops that are five seconds too long each time, otherwise we could have won there too, but s**t happens."
