Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and McLaren CEO Zak Brown have both shared similar "impossible" predictions on the upcoming "oddball" new FIA front wing flexi tests.

During a recent meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council, it was announced that new tests on the flexibility of each front wing will be introduced from the Spanish Grand Prix.

Motorsport's governing body is clamping down on front wing flexibility but is not choosing to do so until the ninth round of the season in Barcelona.

Bizarrely, similar tests on the flexibility of each rear wing will come into effect from the first race of the season in Australia.

Brown believes the new tests will not be an issue for McLaren, and is unsure who exactly will benefit or suffer from the changes being introduced in Spain.

"I don't think it's a significant change for us," Brown told select media including RacingNews365.

"I think it's too hard to tell who wins or loses over it, because I don't think it's going to be a material change for anybody.

"So [I'm] not expecting there to be a winner or loser or some change in the pecking order at that time because of that change."

Horner has a similar view to Brown on the matter, with the Red Bull boss being unsure who the new tests will favour.

However, Horner is also perplexed as to why the new FIA front wing flexibility tests will not be in action from the first round.

"Yeah, it'll be interesting the effect that it has," Horner told select media including RacingNews365. "I guess the slight oddball about it is the timing. Why race nine?

"It might have been better to have been addressed during the off-season. You end up doing sort of two specs of wings.

"But who will gain or who will lose from it? I think is is impossible to predict."
