Adrian Newey has officially started work for Aston Martin as its managing technical partner, with his first day with the team on Monday.

Newey faces a considerable task at Aston Martin to turn the British outfit into F1 title contenders, although he is being paid a huge fee to try and achieve the feat.

Over the next five years, Newey will apparently receive an astronomical $150 million, working out at an annual salary of $30 million.

If Aston Martin pays its employees monthly, then it equates to $2.5 million per month to the legendary F1 designer.

The challenge awaiting Newey clearly has its financial benefits, with his main focus being on the new power unit regulations next year.

The change of regulations will also represent the start of Aston Martin's relationship with Honda, turning the Silverstone-based outfit into a works team.

Newey's remarkable salary is almost certainly not part of Aston Martin's budget cap, with the current rules stating the two highest-paid team members (excluding drivers) are not included in the budget.
