Lewis Hamilton has revealed he is edging closer to Charles Leclerc's Ferrari set-up, as he faces an unwanted record at the British Grand Prix.
Hamilton has largely struggled to adapt to the Ferrari this year, especially in qualifying, but has made steps forward in recent races, including in Austria.
He secured his best grand prix qualifying result with fourth, translating that into fourth in the race, aided in part by following Leclerc's set-up.
"The set-up is a little closer to Charles, yeah," Hamilton replied when questioned by media, including RacingNews365.
"I am struggling with the balance, and he drives a massively over-steering car, and somehow slides the rears and doesn't have degradation.
"When I slide the rears, I get massive degradation, and it took Carlos [Sainz] a couple of years to get used to it, so I don't want to do that.
"I am improving, and am a lot closer in qualifying."
However, that fourth in Austria equalled an unwanted record for Hamilton, of 13 consecutive races without a podium finish.
His last podium was second place in Las Vegas in 2024, meaning he has equalled his run from the 2023 Sao Paulo to 2024 Spanish GPs.
If he fails to reach the podium this weekend at the British Grand Prix, Hamilton will not only set a new record of 14 races without a podium, but also lose his record streak of podiums at Silverstone, having been on the 11 British GP podiums since 2014.
