Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has stated Max Verstappen has no chance of triumphing in this year's F1 title fight.

Verstappen enters the new season looking to secure his fifth consecutive F1 championship.

The Dutchman was put under pressure for the title last year as McLaren moved to the front of the F1 pecking order, while Ferrari also made sizeable gains on Red Bull.

Lando Norris emerged as Verstappen's most consistent rival, however the Red Bull driver's early season form aided his route to another championship.

Schumacher does not see Verstappen in a similarly competitive situation for the 2025 campaign.

“Last year it was clear,” Schumacher told in the Sky Sports Deutschland podcast.

“Red Bull was very strong at the start of the season, but then they couldn't handle the car. Verstappen was the rescue.

“However, he will have to get used to everything coming to an end. I don't think he has a chance.”

As rumours continue to swirl regarding Verstappen's future in F1, Schumacher suggested Red Bull's form could make a potential decision easier.

“Maybe that will help in his decision about a next step,” Schumacher said. “I seriously think he's going to struggle.”

While little is known about the true pecking order following pre-season testing, Schumacher suggested McLaren and Ferrari are the teams best suited to contest at the front of the field.

“They [McLaren] are very far ahead and faster in the slower corners,” the 49-year-old said.

“Before, the car didn't steer so well at the front, but they have fixed that too. Their front axle has definitely improved, but so should Ferrari. I'm curious."
