F1 fans believe Red Bull has made a mistake in sacking Liam Lawson after just two races, according to the results of a RacingNews365 poll.

Red Bull announced on Thursday that after just two races, Lawson was to be sent back to Racing Bulls and be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda.

This decision has caused some dismay, with Max Verstappen understood not to be happy with the decision, given the troubles of the RB21's performance and the fact that Lawson had never driven at either Albert Park or Shanghai.

After the news, RacingNews365 ran a poll asking F1 fans if the team was making the right move in swapping the Kiwi and Japanese racers.

In the results, some 52.89 per cent of those who voted believed Lawson, with just 13 races to his name, deserved more time to prove himself, compared to 47.11 per cent of those who believed the correct decision had been made.

Invited to leave comments, users were split as well.

OlaJ mentioned that Red Bull had "nothing to lose to try out Yuki to see if it is a better match," with PeterM responding to that comment with "I was going to add "nothing to lose but your team's reputation, but that ship has sailed a long time ago."

Elsewhere, Paul Woodthorpe added that they felt Tsunoda should "reject the drive" and that Lawson should have had at least five races "as it makes Red Bull look a terrible outfit to join for any driver and clearly the issue is the undrivable nature of a car unless your name is Max."

Meanwhile Parrot Sounding Goulding commented that promoting Lawson after just 11 races was "lunacy, matching that of extending Perez's contract last year: the poor fellow did not stand a chance."
