Max Verstappen now holds 19-point lead over Lewis Hamilton in the battle for the 2021 F1 World Championship after a dominant victory at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Verstappen stormed past the Mercedes drivers at the start of the race and edged away from Hamilton over the course of the 71-lap encounter to take the chequered flag some 20 seconds clear, extending his title lead for the third round in succession.
It was another strong day for Red Bull as a team, as Sergio Perez completed the podium in front of his adoring home fans. With Valtteri Bottas tagged into a spin by McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo at Turn 1 and unable to recover to the top 10, Red Bull now sit just one point behind Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship.
Verstappen would have moved 20 points ahead of Hamilton, though, had Bottas not pitted late on to steal the fastest lap.
There was a change in the fight for third in the Constructors' standings, as Ferrari jumped 13.5 points clear of McLaren. That was thanks to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finishing fifth and sixth respectively, with Lando Norris 10th after starting from the back of the grid for an engine change.
