McLaren will be the only team to bring new parts to this weekend's São Paulo Grand Prix, with the FIA's official car submission document confirming a fresh front wing, rear wing, beam wing and floor for the Woking-based squad at Interlagos.
In a very rare situation, no other constructor on the grid has declared an upgrade package for round 20, according to the FIA filing, leaving McLaren's development push notably isolated this late in the campaign.
The new front wing is understood to focus on flow conditioning across its elements, aimed at sharpening the airflow reaching the floor and sidepod bodywork.
The revised rear wing and beam wing have reportedly been designed to generate downforce more efficiently while improving how the rear-end elements work together aerodynamically.
The floor update, meanwhile, is said to target more stable underfloor airflow management, addressing balance inconsistencies that have cropped up in recent rounds.
McLaren upgrades with eye on 2027 development
Beyond its immediate performance aims, the front wing concept introduced at Interlagos reportedly doubles as an early track test of aerodynamic ideas McLaren is exploring for its 2027 challenger, under the sport's incoming regulation cycle.
Neither McLaren personnel nor outside technical analysts have put a specific lap-time gain on the package, with evaluation instead said to be centred on downforce efficiency rather than a stated numerical target.
Interlagos itself offers a useful proving ground, blending low-drag straights with a demanding, bumpy middle sector that tests underfloor sensitivity more severely than most circuits on the calendar.
The hope of Lando Norris is that the upgrade will push McLaren back towards Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, following a five-race run without a podium.
