Bottas explains his recent surge in non-F1 activities

Valtteri Bottas has been indulging in a number of non-F1 projects recently

Valtteri Bottas has explained why he is increasing his commitments outside of the world of Formula 1. In addition to racing for Alfa Romeo, the Finn has also recently launched a line of alcoholic beverages, including gin and wine. He has also been active in biking and recently took part in a 100-mile race in the USA, finishing 20th out of almost 1,000 riders. The 34-year-old is undertaking the commitments despite being drawn to a busier-than-ever F1 schedule.

'It keeps me fresh'

However, Bottas asserts that keeping on top of his non-F1 commitments ensures that he is fresh once the race weekend rolls around. “It’s true, I'm involved in quite a bit,” he told media including RacingNews365. “ But all that I am involved in is what I have a passion [for], for me nice they are things to do and to be involved [in]. “With many things I do have people helping me, so I can really choose the load I take from those activities, and especially on race weekends I also always try to minimise things that I don't want to do, and I can basically choose, so for me, it's a great balance. “I think it's nice to have other things than Formula 1, just to keep things mentally fresh so that every time I come to a race weekend, I really want to be here and I really want to perform the best I can. “So for me it's a good balance at the moment.”
