Aston Martin reveal 2024 F1 reserve driver

Aston Martin has confirmed that Brazilian driver Felipe Drugovich will continue in his role as the team's test and reserve driver next year.

Drugovich will also receive another free practice outing in Abu Dhabi later this season, substituting for Fernando Alonso.

The Brazilian driver joined Aston Martin's programme last year, signing a contract the same day he secured the FIA Formula 2 title.

He made his FP1 debut in Abu Dhabi last year and was back inside the car in Italy earlier this season for another free practice opportunity.

Aston Martin has outlined that he will continue to attend races next year as well as conduct simulator work at its new factory in Silverstone to aid car development.

Drugovich has completed 20 simulator days so far this year as well as clocking Felipe over 6000km in the AMR21, AMR22 and AMR23 challengers.

Drugovich 'proud' of Aston Martin role

Drugovich, 23, did not race this year as he concentrated on his duties with Aston Martin.

“I’m really proud to be continuing to work with Aston Martin for a second season,” said Drugovich.

“This year, I’ve learnt a huge amount – not just at the racetrack, but working with the engineers in the simulator and from the development programme that was designed for me.

“I’m proud of the contribution I’ve been able to make, and pleased that I’ve been able to help progress the development of AMR23.

“My focus now shifts towards preparing for the upcoming FP1 session at Abu Dhabi – I’m already looking forward to driving the AMR23 again – and to the work I’ll be doing with the engineers over the winter to prepare for 2024.

“I want to thank the whole team for their incredible support over the last 12 months.”
