Get the latest news on F1 driver Felipe Drugovich as it happens. The Brazilian is the reserve driver of the Aston Martin F1 team.

Felipe Drugovich news

Felipe Drugovich Roncato is reserve driver for the Aston Martin F1 Team. Drugovich became the 2022 Formula 2 champion and replaced the injured Lance Stroll during the testing days for the 2023 Formula 1 season. It did not come to a race as yet.

Who is Felipe Drugovich?

Drugovich was born on 23 May 2000 in Maringá, Brazil. He started karting at the age of eight. Until the age of 13, he raced in Brazil. From 2013 to 2015, the Brazilian travelled the world to compete in international karting races. He raced for highly regarded teams as Kosmic Racing and ART Grand Prix. Drugovich comes from a real racing family: his uncles Sérgio Drugovich and Oswalko Drugovich Jr. are also racing drivers. Little is known about his parents.

In November 2022, Drugovich stepped into a Formula 1 car for the first time. The Brazilian driver tested the AMR21 at Silverstone Circuit, which earned him enough points to receive the Fia Super License. A month later, he stepped into an F1 car again. He got to sit in Lance Stroll's car during the first free practice of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He also drove several laps at the Yas Marina Circuit in the post-season young driver tests.

In 2023, Drugovich again competed for the Aston Martin team. He replaced Lance Stroll, who did not participate in the official test days in Bahrain due to an injury caused by a cycling accident.
