Williams F1 team principal James Vowles will race in the Gulf 12 Hours event from Abu Dhabi next month.
The GT3 race will see Vowles get behind the wheel of a McLaren GT3 EVO at the Garage 59 team, joining 2024 Gulf 12 Hours Pro-Am winner Alexander West, as well as Mark Sansom and Marco Pulcini.
Vowles worked with the team during the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series and has been preparing for the upcoming endurance race with various test appearances this year.
“The chance to put on a race helmet again is something I relish,” said Vowles.
“Garage 59 is a team I know well from our time together in 2022, and the Gulf 12 Hours is a fantastic event with a competitive grid.
“It will be a pleasure to share the car with Alex, Mark and Marco, and to experience racing from the driver’s seat again.”
Vowles has been the team principal of Williams since the start of the 2023 campaign and has overseen tangible steps forward from the squad.
The upcoming 12-hour race will take place on December 14 around the Yas Marina Circuit, one week after the F1 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
