Aston Martin is to let go of multiple personnel in its F1 design department, including its aerodynamics director, ahead of 2026, RacingNews365 can confirm.

It is understood that up to seven figures from the aerodynamics and car design sections are to depart the team in the near future, including former Mercedes and Ferrari designer Eric Blandin.

Blandin was signed by Aston Martin to work under former technical director Dan Fallows in 2022, but he departed this role earlier in 2025, just as Adrian Newey started in his position as managing technical partner.

Chief designer Akio Haga is also understood to be one of the seven departing the team as Newey stamps his authority on the team as it prepares for an assault on the 2026 world championships under the new technical regulations.

Under the strict F1 cost cap rules, any figure departing the team must be fully moved off F1 responsibilities and not placed within the advanced technologies division and still work on F1-related matters.

Newey is being joined by Enrico Cardile in restructuring Aston's technical department, with the former Ferrari engineer formally starting in August after a protracted period of gardenning leave after quitting Maranello.
