Yuki Tsunoda suffers early São Paulo scare

Yuki Tsunoda suffered a horrid start to free practice in São Paulo, but it could have been so much worse!

Yuki Tsunoda suffered an early scare in the only free practice session ahead of this weekend's São Paulo Grand Prix.

Just under eight minutes into the 60-minute session in Interlagos, Tsunoda spun at Turn 5 and miraculously avoided a huge collision with the barriers.

The front of Tsunoda's RB21 made contact with the barrier in the perfect position to ensure minimal damage was sustained.

Tsunoda's tyres were destroyed, in particular the left-front which had a major flat spot, while a new front wing was also needed due to minor endplate damage.

He quickly returned to the Red Bull garage, where the team quickly began the small repair job. Nevertheless, it was a scary start for the Japanese driver, who is still fighting for his F1 future.

Almost 30 minutes after the incident, Tsunoda finally rejoined the circuit following repairs to the front and rear of his car.
