McLaren doing ‘cooler things’ in F1 than Red Bull - Norris

Lando Norris feels McLaren is "being smarter" and "doing cooler things" than its F1 rivals with the innovation it has brought to the MCL38.

McLaren has developed its car into the class of the field this year, with the British driver acknowledging the team is "doing a better job" than others.

McLaren's ability to consistently deliver successful upgrades throughout the year has transformed both the drivers' and the constructors' title fights.

The updates McLaren has ported onto the MCL38, however, have not been without controversy, including the contentious flexible rear wing that will be altered for its next appearance in Las Vegas, something Norris alluded to when crediting his team.

"We are doing a better job as a team right now because my car, our car, is quicker than theirs [Red Bull]," the 24-year-old told media including RacingNews365.

"But that's just credit to the team for doing an amazing job, for being smarter and doing cooler things, creating mini-DRS flaps and stuff."

Norris 'working his butt off'

After the Singapore Grand Prix, Norris trails Max Verstappen by 52 points in a battle poised to go down to the wire in Abu Dhabi.

For McLaren, it holds a healthy 41-point advantage over Red Bull and is the odds-on favourite to claim its first constructors' title since 1998.

The drivers' fight is a considerably more challenging prospect with just six rounds to run, but Norris insists he is doing everything he can to take the title.

"I'm working my heart out, I'm working my butt off, to try and make sure that happens [winning the drivers' championship]," the three-time grand prix winner said.

"He's [Verstappen] trying to make sure it doesn't happen. So, we'll have to wait and find out."
