Former F1 driver David Coulthard revealed that he has found it "uncomfortable watching" Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, due to his struggles across the opening 12 grands prix.

Hamilton's move to Ferrari was met with high expectations ahead of the 2025 season; however, adjusting to life in Maranello has proven difficult for the 40-year-old.

The seven-time world champion is yet to claim a grand prix podium in red, whilst Charles Leclerc has secured four rostrum finishes this season and has outscored Hamilton by 16 points.

A surprise sprint pole was converted into sprint victory in China, before a second sprint podium was achieved in Miami, but his wait for a grand prix top three continues into Belgium.

For a good portion of the Silverstone weekend, a podium for Hamilton looked likely after demonstrating pace close to the McLarens. Unfortunately, wet weather on race day ruined Ferrari's chances.

Hamilton has moved closer to Leclerc's set up in recent races and looked highly competitive in the British Grand Prix, although Coulthard is unsure if that was simply due to home support.

The Scotsman has not enjoyed watching Hamilton get beaten by Leclerc, but is hopeful he can build on from his speed on home soil.

Reflecting on Hamilton's first 12 races with Ferrari, Coulthard told F1: "Silverstone felt more comfortable.

"Up until Silverstone, and putting China to one side, it’s felt uncomfortable watching Lewis there. He hasn’t looked as quick as Charles [Leclerc].

"I don’t think any of the teams mind a fast Ferrari, because they are sort of the biggest name in the history of the sport.

"But at Silverstone, it looked like he was more on top of things. Was that just because it was Silverstone or not? That remains to be seen."
