Lewis Hamilton's victory at the Qatar Grand Prix has cut Max Verstappen's lead in the Drivers' Championship to eight points with two events to go.
Hamilton dominated the race, leading every lap at the Losail International Circuit on his way to his 102nd win in Formula 1.
Verstappen recovered from a five-grid place penalty to finish in second, making up three positions by Turn 2 before overtaking Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso.
Sergio Perez's fourth place, coupled with Valtteri Bottas' retirement, has seen Mercedes' advantage over Red Bull in the Constructors' standings trimmed to five points.
Ferrari outscored McLaren again to move one step closer to securing third place in the Constructors' Championship.
Fernando Alonso's third place and Esteban Ocon's fifth place have given Alpine a big advantage in their battle against AlphaTauri. The two teams were level on points prior to Qatar, but Alpine now have a lead of 25 points.
