Following the conclusion of the Formula E season, DS Penske has confirmed the departure of Season 8 world champion Stoffel Vandoorne.

It was reported earlier in the week that Vandoorne would leave the outfit, although it has now been officially announced by the team.

Vandoorne completed two seasons for the American team after joining from Mercedes-EQ, ahead of the introduction of the Gen3 era.

The Belgian failed to deliver consistent big results which took him to the title in 2022, with his highlights being pole position in São Paulo last year and a podium in Monaco this season.

"My journey with DS Penske has been an incredible experience," said Vandoorne. "I am thankful to the team for their unwavering support and look forward to new challenges ahead."

Despite leaving DS Penske, Vandoorne is expected to remain in the championship and potentially even with the Stellantis family.

The Race reported earlier this week that the Belgian could be moving to customer team Maserati to swap seats with Maximilian Günther.

Unlike in 2023, Vandoorne did salvage a top 10 finish in the drivers' championship this season in P10.

The Belgian ended the campaign on 61 points which contributed to the team finishing third in the teams' standings.

DS Penske scored 37 points more in Season 10 than they did in Season 9, with the outfit's team principal being incredibly grateful for Vandoorne's efforts.

"We are truly grateful to Stoffel for his commitment and the outstanding performances he has delivered for DS Penske," said team principal Jay Penske.

"We wish him the very best in his future endeavours."
