Charles Leclerc has revealed that Ferrari is still "struggling like crazy" in wet conditions, following qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Rainfall during the start of qualifying saw the wet compound used for the first two parts of the session, before the intermediates were used by the 10 remaining drivers in Q3.
Lewis Hamilton failed to escape Q1, with the seven-time world champion having qualified in last – the first time that has happened on pure pace in his F1 career.
As for Leclerc, despite several skirmishes and ventures off the circuit, he did progress to the final part of qualifying but had to settle for ninth.
Leclerc's quickest lap was almost two seconds adrift of Lando Norris' pole lap, cementing that Ferrari's difficulties in wet conditions are far from over, as confirmed by the Monegasque.
Discussing if he found the conditions difficult, Leclerc told select media including RacingNews365: "Unfortunately, yes.
"Unfortunately, at Ferrari we are struggling massively in the wet, we don't quite [have] the solution. It's not a fault that we are not trying because we've been trying like crazy, but it's just, it just doesn't work.
"And it's very, very frustrating, because it's been probably my biggest strength in the junior categories coming up, and we are just struggling like crazy.
"Whenever it's wet, the tyres don't switch on, and we just have very, very poor grip."
Addressing if Ferrari's wet weather problem is tyre warm up-related, Leclerc responded: "I don't think it's only that, because we've been trying things on the tyre warm up as well in the past, and, yeah, it didn't work."
