Daniel Ricciardo has stated that he was disappointed with his overall pace during Thursday's two practice sessions for the 2021 F1 Monaco Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver joined the team from Renault over the winter and has thus far taken some time to adapt to his new surroundings.
At the famous Monaco street circuit, the 31-year-old was 1.5 seconds off leader Carlos Sainz - and almost a second down on teammate Norris in FP2.
"This is frustrating, because I'm quite far away and I still have a lot of time to find. Tomorrow we have time, but currently, I would like to know immediately where the time has gone," Ricciardo told RacingNews365 and other selected members of the media.
"The second sector was my weakness, there you have turns 5 and 6, all slow curves. That's a little surprising why I lose so much time there. But I have to look at the data now and try everything."
"I actually felt like I had confidence in the car, but this has not yet been shown in the lap time."
As frustrated as Ricciardo is about his lap times, he does also emphasise that the car itself isn't the easiest to pilot around the twisting streets of Monte Carlo.
"I won't lie, [the car] is very sensitive. This is really the frustrating thing, because it feels like you need a certain driving style for it, and if you don't have it, then you're not fast. I have to take a look at this again," Ricciardo concluded.
