Liam Lawson has revealed that the biggest lesson he learned during the 2025 F1 season was not getting "caught up in emotion", something he found hugely challenging after "extremely frustrating" moments.

It was a rollercoaster first campaign as a full-time F1 driver for Lawson, who started the year alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

Unfortunately, the New Zealander was quickly demoted to Racing Bulls after just two races, with he and Yuki Tsunoda swapping seats.

Lawson initially took time to settle back into the sister team, but soon began to match the performances of Isack Hadjar. He managed to score 38 points across 22 races for Racing Bulls, with a best result of fifth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The 23-year-old has been rewarded with a contract at Racing Bulls for 2026, where he will hope to make progress under the new power unit regulations.

Overall, it was a season of highs and lows for Lawson, from which he has taken plenty of valuable lessons.

Asked what the biggest thing he learnt in 2025 was, Lawson answered: "I think with how many races we have, you just don't have time to really dwell.

"I think it's important that you obviously reflect on each weekend and try to take the positives and try to learn from each weekend.

"But, yeah, to go through this many weekends and trying not to get stuck on something or caught up in emotion is very tough.

"So, as an example, [in Qatar] – to have a very smooth weekend all the way up to the race and be in a great position, and then a very small mistake throws that all away – it’s extremely frustrating."
