Red Bull is believed to want to stand down Adrian Newey from his final scheduled F1 weekends with the team after Aston Martin's unprecedented unveiling of the still-under-contract chief technology officer.

The 65-year-old will leave the reigning constructors' champions for the Silverstone-based team in early 2025, after nearly two decades.

However, the scale and nature of Aston Martin's press conference - and accompanying Q&A session - confirming Newey's appointment as managing technical partner is thought to have ruffled feathers at Red Bull.

Team principal of the Milton Keynes squad Christian Horner remarked that Aston Martin chose to "celebrate" the marquee signing "prematurely" as he is still under contract until 1 March next year.

Newey has already stepped away from design and development of the RB20 and his focus remains on the RB17 hypercar project that was unveiled at Goodwood in July.

However, he was also scheduled to support trackside operations at select F1 races throughout the rest of the current season, as he did in Miami and Monaco, both of which came following confirmation of his Red Bull departure.

His next planned F1 race weekend is the United States Grand Prix in October, but RacingNews365 understands that whilst that trip is currently still on Newey's work calendar, Red Bull would rather he turn his attention exclusively to the RB17 and forego the trip to Austin.

It is understood Red Bull is still mulling over the decision and whether the team ultimately stands down Newey from the race in Texas remains to be seen.
