Oscar Piastri has called on McLaren to “reset” and “refocus” after suffering a disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Both Piastri and team-mate Lando Norris were thrown out of the race results after their skid planks were found to have excessive wear.
The non-score for both drivers ensures the gap between the two remains 24 points with two rounds remaining.
However, it has delivered a significant boost to Max Verstappen, who is now level on points with Piastri in the drivers' championship.
“Disappointing to come away from this weekend with no points after an unfortunate disqualification due to skid wear,” Piastri said.
“With how close the grid is, we’re always looking at where we can gain performance, and we didn’t get it right this time.
“We now need to reset, refocus and push to get the best points possible in the final two rounds, both tracks that we've been strong at previously.”
Next up on the schedule is the Qatar Grand Prix, a race that Piastri has featured on the podium at in 2023 and 2024.
Piastri, as well as team-mate Lando Norris, were issued an apology by the McLaren team following the Las Vegas error.
