Aston Martin is set to sack F1 team principal and CEO Andy Cowell following the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Cowell, the former head of Mercedes High Performance Powertrains, was appointed as CEO of the team, replacing Martin Whitmarsh in October 2024, and took on the responsibilities of team principal following an internal reshuffle, with Mike Krack moving to chief trackside officer in early 2025.
However, RacingNews365's sister site Formula.Hu has reported that Cowell's position has become untenable after the recent news of the departures of several senior design figures, including aerodynamics director, Eric Blandin, with owner Lawrence Stroll feeling the team is right to make a change.
RacingNews365 understands Cowell's replacement could potentially be former McLaren and Stake boss Andreas Seidl.
Seidl left McLaren ahead of the 2023 season to return to the Volkswagen group to lead up Stake as it prepares to transition to Audi in 2026.
However, he departed in mid-2024, being replaced by Mattia Binotto.
When approached for a comment, an Aston Martin spokesperson did not deny the rumour of Cowell's imminent sacking.
"An Aston Martin Aramco spokesperson explained the team will not be engaging in rumour or speculation," read a statement.
"The focus is on maximising performance in the remaining races and preparing for 2026."
