On-track action in the morning session of Day 2 of Formula 1 pre-season testing will not be resumed following a broken drain cover.

Shortly after the two-hour mark, red flags were thrown for no clear reason, but it quickly became apparent that a drain cover had broken at Turn 11.

Replays showed Charles Leclerc had dislodged it in the Ferrari before Lewis Hamilton ran over the section of cover. Both cars were inspected and no damage was uncovered.

Under the red flag, track inspections took place, with the FIA confirming that the morning session would be cut short by an hour, with lunch taking place from 13:00pm-14:00pm local time, shuffling forward one hour.

To make up the time, the afternoon session of Day 2 is to be extended by an hour, taking place from 14:00pm-19:00pm local time.

That is from 11:00am-4pm UK time.

Leclerc ended the session fastest for Ferrari, with a report on the track running before the red flag available to read here.
