Toto Wolff has branded Mercedes and Ferrari both "losers" after their Formula 1 drubbings at the hands of Red Bull in 2023.
Both squads entered the season hopeful of closing the gap to Red Bull, who won 17 of 22 races in 2022, but car concept failings meant Red Bull was unchallenged throughout the year, taking 21 of 22 race wins.
Ferrari scooped the other win, through Carlos Sainz in Singapore, as Mercedes went winless for the first time since 2011, as the battle between the two for second in the Constructors' went down to the last lap in Abu Dhabi.
Mercedes would emerge ahead by just three points, but its 409, was less than 50% of the 860 scored by Red Bull - with Wolff bluntly labelling both outfits as "losers."

"Both losers," was Wolff blunt reply when asked by media including RacingNews365 if he preferred finishing second without a win or third with a victory.
"It's better to be second for the money and the bonuses and it is better to be P3 because of the wind-tunnel time.
"Ferrari has 7% more than us though, and we would have had 14% more than Red Bull [if we finished third], but you can't get what you always want.
"You want the bonuses and the extra wind-tunnel time."
