Marko warns Mercedes: Red Bull might be even more dominant

After Max Verstappen's impressive win at the Red Bull Ring, the team is already looking forward to next weekend at the same venue. Will the Dutchman dominate again? Helmut Marko thinks he will.

Spirits at Red Bull are high following Max Verstappen's dominant win at the Styrian Grand Prix, though Helmut Marko believes there's more to come next week. Sunday's result saw the Dutchman extend his lead over Lewis Hamilton, who finished second while registering the fastest lap of the race, to 18 points in the standings. With another race at the Red Bull Ring set to come next weekend, Marko believes the good times could continue. "It was very emotional," Marko told Servus TV. "To achieve such a clear victory here in Styria was pleasing. Of course we wanted the 25 points, and they came. We didn't get the 26, but the lead is very nice. "Next week? The track and cars will remain the same, only the tyres will differ. I assume these will suit us even more given the wear and tear. "When Hamilton pitted we calculated that we could continue with these tyres for another 10 laps. We didn't want to risk anything with a safety car. I assume that with the softer tyres we can show the same dominance, or maybe be even more dominant." Marko's confidence stems from the fact that Pirelli will bring soft tyres to the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix, which should suit Red Bull more than Mercedes. Should the Milton Keynes outfit take the chequered flag at the Austrian Grand Prix, it would be their fifth consecutive victory.
