Honda has teased Formula 1 fans by releasing an audio clip of its 2026 engine, becoming the first manufacturer to reveal what the new power unit regulations will sound like.
The Japanese manufacturer recorded the sound of its power unit that it will supply to Aston Martin next season from its dyno, following the end of its last campaign with Red Bull.
Honda's partnership with Red Bull concluded at the end of the 2025 season, paving the way for a fresh alliance with Aston Martin.
Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will be the first drivers to experience Honda's latest engine when the new regulatory cycle begins next year.
The audio represents a crucial development phase for Honda's 2026 project, marking the transition from design to practical testing.
With F1's sweeping technical changes introducing new power unit requirements alongside revised aerodynamic regulations, manufacturers face their biggest challenge in years.
Private testing sessions are already scheduled for late January in Barcelona, giving Honda valuable track time before the season opener in Australia on 8 March – Bahrain will also host two three-day official tests in February.
Aston Martin's partnership with Honda represents a significant shift for both parties. The team, led by Adrian Newey, will be banking on the Japanese manufacturer's expertise to help unlock performance from their 2026 chassis.
