There is an updated version of this article [HERE] after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were both disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Lando Norris has extended his 2025 F1 championship lead over team-mate Oscar Piastri in the Las Vegas Grand Prix - but how can he now win the title in Qatar?
Norris came into the Vegas weekend with a 24-point lead over Piastri and a 49-point lead over Verstappen, knowing he could not win the title in Sin City.
Verstappen would win in Las Vegas with Norris in second and Piastri only fourth, but how has this affected the permutations for Norris to claim the title in Qatar.
As it stands, Norris has 408 points, Piastri 378 and Verstappen 369.
Norris leads by 30 and 39 points, respectively.
Across the Qatar and Abu Dhabi weekends, there are now 58 points remaining in the season for the two grands prix and Qatar Sprint.
It means Norris cannot win the 2025 F1 drivers' title in the Qatar Sprint race, as the maximum number of points he can be ahead of Piastri is 38 after the Sprint, with 50 then remaining.
Norris must leave Qatar at least 25 points clear of either Piastri or Verstappen.
It means across the weekend, Piastri must out-score Norris by five points to remain in contention heading to the Abu Dhabi finale.
As for Verstappen, he must out-score Norris by 17 points across the weekend.
If Norris were to win the Qatar Sprint and Piastri not finish, the gap would be 38 points.
In this scenario, should Piastri then win the Qatar Grand Prix, Norris would require a fourth-place finish to be crowned Britain's 11th world champion, and McLaren's first since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
NOTE: Both Norris and Piastri have now been disqualified from the Las Vegas GP due to illegal plank wear on their McLarens. An updated version of this article is available [HERE].
