Ferrari dismisses Red Bull 'alarm' after Monza result

Ferrari was able to take its second pole position of the season against the RB19 at the Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari has played down concern over its qualifying performance at the Italian Grand Prix in relation to the Red Bull RB19. At Monza, the Scuderia brought a package that included trimmed out wings in a bid to score a strong result in front of the Tifosi. Carlos Sainz would qualify on pole position, but finished third in the race behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez as the Red Bull's race day strengths won out. Despite all of the work Ferrari put into the SF-23 for the Grand Prix, Red Bull only had minor changes to the rear-wing, as Verstappen fell 0.013s short of Sainz in qualifying as Ferrari's Senior Performance Engineer Jock Clear dismissed the notion of alarm at only just being ahead of Red Bull given the two different packages.

Ferrari not alarmed

"I don't think there's any alarm," Clear told media including RacingNews365. "To be brutally honest with you, and not wishing to blow smoke up Red Bull's a**e, a car that strong and a driver that strong, we are over the Moon to be ahead of them [in qualifying]. "That is a real achievement as it is a car that works everywhere. "They may not have brought a specific wing package [to Monza], but we very much appreciate the competition they present every race and to be ahead of them is fantastic."
