Ferrari change more engine parts ahead of British GP

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have both taken new engine components ahead of the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone.

Ferrari have been forced to take yet more new engine parts ahead of the British Grand Prix weekend, despite Charles Leclerc's pleas for a problem-free Silverstone weekend. The Monegasque racer has billed the next four races as crucial for his and Ferrari's World Championship hopes after recent reliability issues for the Scuderia helped Max Verstappen to build a 46-point lead in the standings. However, ahead of the race at Silverstone, both Leclerc and teammate Carlos Sainz took on new engine parts, leaving Sainz on the brink of a penalty.

Which parts have Ferrari changed?

Sainz will race with a new turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K, leaving him just one further change away from landing a grid drop. Leclerc, meanwhile, has taken a new exhaust but, having already taken an entirely new power unit last time out in Canada, he has escaped punishment. However, should he use two more exhausts between now and the end of the season, a further penalty will come his way. There have also been new engine parts for Mick Schumacher (Haas) and Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo).
