The maximum number of points that can be awarded to a single driver in Formula 1 Grand Prix is 26, but what if there are mitigating circumstances surrounding the completion of the race?
The 2021 Belgium Grand Prix caused controversy when half points were awarded after only two laps were completed under Safety Car due to poor weather conditions.
To make race outcomes more proportional when there are stoppages due to weather, changes were made from the 2022 season onwards.
