F1 fans believe the FIA has made the wrong decision in not bringing V10 engines back to grand prix racing, and ditching the 2026 power unit rules.
Talk of a potential return for the normally aspirated V10 units grew at the start of the year, with a summit of engine manufacturers, F1 and the FIA taking place ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
There, it was decided that the rules for 2026 would be introduced as planned, with the power units featuring their biggest shake-up since their introduction in 2014.
A 50-50 split of power from the internal combustion engines and batteries will be introduced, with the batteries beefed up to 350kw of energy from the current 120kw.
The rules have enticed Audi into F1 for the first time, with Honda and General Motors also committing to works programmes. Ford is also joining as a partner to Red Bull Powertrains.
