De Vries plans sportscar switch following F1 exit

The Dutchman is eyeing a switch to the World Endurance Championship following his mid-season exit from AlphaTauri.

Nyck de Vries could make a switch back to sportscar racing following his exit from the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team. The Dutchman was replaced by Daniel Ricciardo after 10 races at the team, with the team opting for more experience as they look to turn around their season. RacingNews365 understands from several sources that a switch to the World Endurance Championship is one of the options for the 2024 season. De Vries has previously raced in WEC with TDS Racing and Racing Team Netherlands, achieving a best finish of fourth in class at the Le Mans 24 hours race. He is reportedly set to race with Toyota in the Hypercar class, replacing Jose Maria Lopez and racing alongside Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway in the #7 car for the 2024 season. De Vries was previously named as their official test and reserve driver for the 2020 and 2021 seasons with Toyota, and was due to contest the 2023 season with the team alongside a season with Masarati in Formula E before his AlphaTauri call up.
