Fernando Alonso has confirmed the passing of his long-time F1 physio Fabrizio Borra.

The two-time F1 world champion posted a message on Instagram paying tribute to Borra, who had worked with the Spanish driver since his rookie season at Minardi in 2001.

The Italian physio worked with Alonso at spells with Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, McLaren for a second time, Alpine and since 2023, Aston Martin.

Borra, who was 64 years old, is perhaps best known for being the figure on the McLaren pit-wall approached by then-boss Ron Dennis during qualifying for the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix, where a row developed between Alonso and team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Borra worked for Physiology Centre, with clients also including the likes of Michael Schumacher, MotoGP's Andrea Dovizioso but also cyclists, including three-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar.

Paying tribute to Borra, Alonso wrote, "I'll miss you, Fabri. Every single day.

"Thank you for teaching me so much and making me a better person and athlete. My whole career with you has been the biggest luck I could have 👬🏻. ❤️ Rest in peace, brother ❤️."

Everyone at RacingNews365 sends their condolences to the friends and family of Fabrizio Borra at this sad time.
