Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are set to be disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix for too much plank wear
In the closing stages of the race, Norris was forced into extreme fuel-saving measures, dropping from six seconds behind winner Max Verstappen to 20.7s at the flag, and just three seconds ahead of George Russell.
However, after rumours of an investigation sparked, the FIA's technical delegate Jo Bauer confirmed that the plank wear on both Norris and Piastri's cars had been checked, and was found to be below the minimum thickness required.
Such technical breaches are seldom overturned, meaning the disqualifications, the first-ever double DSQ for McLaren, are set to have a massive effect on the F1 title race.
Norris is set to have 390 points, Piastri 366 and now Verstappen 366 heading to Qatar, meaning the trio will be separated by 24 points with 58 remaining.
