Verstappen talks up Perez experience as Red Bull aim higher

Perez will take the second Red Bull seat alongside the Dutch driver for the 2021 season after he moved from Racing Point at the end of last year to replace the departing Alex Albon.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is set to line up alongside Mexican Sergio Perez on the grid for the forthcoming season, and he thinks that together the pair can work to bring the team the points they crave. For the past two seasons Verstappen has been streaks ahead of his teammates, consistently out qualifying them and finishing far ahead in races after both Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon struggled in a Red Bull seat. However, with the experience Perez brings to the table, Verstappen reckons that the team will be in a much better position to get a higher overall points total. "I expect Checo to do a good job like he has done throughout his career in F1. I’m excited to work together with him and I hope that we can bring the team a lot of points." He added that the Mexican’s experience of other teams and power units over the last few seasons would also prove an invaluable asset to the engineers, who can use some of that edge to improve their performance. "I think it’s mainly the information from the years he has done at another team, with a different power unit and stuff like that, he can transfer to the team his findings and the differences." "I hope of course that this can help the team or at least give them some different ideas about a few things."
