Verstappen reveals special Japanese GP helmet

The World Champion made his F1 weekend debut in practice at Suzuka in 2014.

Max Verstappen has drawn inspiration from the flag of Japan with his special helmet design for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. Suzuka is a track which has seen several landmarks in Verstappen's career, including his first practice outing in 2014 and wrapping up the title in 2022 following a stunning wet-weather drive in the shortened race. With that in mind, Verstappen has decided to incorporate the Japanese flag into his helmet design, which he explains in the video below. After his winning streak came to an end in Singapore, Verstappen is 151 points ahead of Sergio Perez heading to Japan, and can be a maximum of 177 ahead by the time he leaves. There are still 180 points on offer after the Suzuka race meaning Verstappen must wait until Qatar, and possibly the Sprint race, to wrap the title up.
