Magnussen calls on Vegas critics to 'keep opinions to yourself'

Kevin Magnussen has suggested that critics of the Las Vegas Grand Prix should keep their opinions to themselves.

Formula 1 raced down the Las Vegas Strip Circuit for the first time last weekend in an event that was jammed with commitments for drivers.

The weekend was also filled with celebrity appearances and various activities around the circuit, located in the heart of the Nevada city.

The biggest critic of the spectacle was Max Verstappen, who took issue with the weekend being “99% show and 1% sport”.

Ahead of the race event, an opening ceremony was held featuring several music artists before the drivers were presented to the attending fans on raised podiums.

Verstappen stated that he felt like a “clown” during the showcase and continued to berate the event throughout the weekend.

Magnussen, who ended Sunday's race in 13th place, suggested that such criticism of the weekend was not necessary as he highlighted the luxuries that F1 drivers have.

“It’s fine to have an opinion, maybe you should keep it for yourself,” Magnussen said.

“At the end of the day we’re all on pretty good salaries, living a good life, and that’s all because of this.

“So at the end of the day maybe we should show a little bit more appreciation.”
