Kevin Magnussen says he "trusted" that Sergio Perez would leave him room in their huge first lap Monaco Grand Prix accident.
Climbing Beau Rivage, Magnussen was on the inside of Perez's Red Bull and drawing alongside as the two reached a pinch-point - with Perez being spat at high-speed into the armco barrier.
The Red Bull was destroyed in the incident - although all drivers, including Haas team-mate Nico Hulkenberg escaped without serious injury.
The FIA stewards looked at the incident, but have elected to take no further action over the crash, with Magnussen just two points away from a race ban.
Reflecting on the first lap accident that triggered a lengthy red-flag for barrier repairs, Magnussen felt Perez was to blame.
"From my point of view, I had a good chunk of my front alongside Perez's rear, and when he went into the wall, I got taken into the wall and pushed into him," Magnussen told Sky Sports F1.
"I trusted that he was going to leave the space for me since I was there and it is not a corner you are braking into, it is just a little bend on the straight.
"You have to have a car width or you leave the guy with no option.
"It is unfortunate, it is a lot of cost to the team and a lot of work for the guys and a missed opportunity.
"But from my view, I was there and was squeezed to the wall."
