Formula 1 fans remain split on whether Arvid Lindblad should have been handed his promotion to Racing Bulls for 2026 over a second season in Formula 2.

According to a recent RacingNews365 poll asking whether 2026 is too soon for the British teenager's promotion to Racing Bulls, more fans believe it is too soon for Lindblad's move to the pinnacle of motorsport.

The poll, which asked "Is 2026 too soon for Lindblad's F1 promotion?", saw 55% of respondents vote "Yes - He should be in Formula 2 for 2026", while 45% backed the move with "No - He is ready for his seat at Racing Bulls."

The divided opinion reflects the extraordinary nature of Lindblad's promotion. At just 18 years old, he will become the grid's sole rookie in 2026, debuting alongside sweeping technical regulation changes that will challenge even experienced drivers.

Lindblad's rapid ascent through motorsport's ranks has been nothing short of remarkable.

The Red Bull junior secured his F1 seat after finishing sixth in his maiden Formula 2 campaign with Campos Racing, claiming three victories including a historic sprint win in Jeddah that made him the youngest-ever race winner in the category.

His promotion comes just four years after beginning competitive single-seater racing in 2022, having progressed through Formula Regional Oceania, Italian F4, and Formula 3 with consistent success before his F2 debut.

Racing Bulls team bosses Alan Permane and Peter Bayer have acknowledged the challenge ahead, warning Lindblad that his debut will be "difficult" and that "being competitive from the get-go would be a tall order."
